More Range Of Motion, Better Light Distribution. The simple layout and familiar controls make using this flash intuitive. Although I do wish they hadn't removed the ability to connect the R1 receiver to this speedlite, now there's no way to use the R1 system. I'm hoping that using this will help me have fewer misfires with the R2 system from now on. I have had lots of misfires with the R2 2.4GHz radio system (and almost zero with the 433MHz R1 system).

The SCAN feature is really handy to help select a channel which will avoid interference. The magnets are stronger than those on the Profoto A1 and very convenient to use, I love being able to click a CTO gel on and off, or a grid, or a bounce card, or a dome diffuser, etc. The Flashpoint Round Head Flash Accessory Kit - Godox AK-R1 is perfect for this speedlite. The size of the round head isn't much different than the size of the rectangular head, so direct flash will look very similar from either speedlite. Yes you will hear people say that the light pattern is a bit smoother when you shoot the bare flash against a wall, but I don't make a living shooting pictures of walls with my speedlites. In terms of performance it's going to be similar to the previous models (with rectangular heads).

I replaced the two speedlites in my bag with these round-head versions because they're much more convenient for accessories.įunctionally this is similar to the rectangular head speedlites I was already using but the two biggest features that I like are that you can use the magnetic accessories and that the head can be tipped back if you need to bounce the flash behind you. I purchased both the Godox V1 and this Flashpoint XR2 and they're both identical (other than the brand name lettering).
